This custom dress shirt is hand tailored using the custom options (collars, cuffs, pleats) you select here. The fabric composition is described above. You will enter all your size information in your account at checkout. To ensure proper fit on your men’s dress shirts you can use custom measurements or a standard size.
    Overview:

Use either your Standard Shirt Size ("off the rack") which is your Neck/Sleeve size (e.g. 18/36) or you can can follow the instructions on our site explaining how to take your measurements.

Your Standard Size can be found near the collar on the label of an existing "off the rack" dress shirt, or on the inside panel of the shirt near the bottom.

You also have the option in your account at checkout to define what kind of cut (taper) you want on your shirts, information on tapering options is listed below. If a taper is not selected we will use a Regular Cut. An "off the rack" shirt usually comes with a one inch taper.

Another option is telling us your "Body Type" which will allow us to cut a shirt more specific to your frame. Details and diagrams on Body Types are provided below.

    1. Use Standard Neck/Sleeve Size
    2. Take Your Measurements
    3. Shirt Tapering
    4. Body Type

    1) Use Standard Sizes:

Your Standard Shirt Size can usually be found on the collar or inside panel side of an "off the rack" shirt. The number shown is your retail Neck/Sleeve size (e.g. 18/36).

At checkout, find the drop down list "Standard Shirt Size" and enter that number. Also enter your correct Height and Weight. You can enter other measurements if you wish but it is not necessary. If your Standard Size is not shown; just enter your size information in the Neck and Sleeve boxes. You can also elect a shirt taper (see below for more information)

    2) Take Your Measurements:

Follow the instructions on our site (see link above) for taking your measurements, or measuring your best fitting shirt.

At checkout, enter all your specific custom measurements and indicate whether you measured yourself, measured a shirt, or had a tailor measure you. Please remember to enter your correct Height and Weight.

    3) Shirt Tapering:

    1) Regular (Taper 1-2") DEFAULT

    2) Athletic (Taper 3-4")

    3) Extreme (Taper 5-6+")

A shirt "taper" or "cut" is how much the Waist is narrower than the Chest. The default cut will be Regular where the Waist is tapered in 1-2" from the Chest. An Athletic or Extreme taper will bring the Waist in even more than a Regular cut. An "off the rack" shirt usually comes with a Regular taper.

    4) Body Type:
You will also have the option of defining your body type, this in conjunction with your Height/Weight will give us a better idea of how to cut your shirts. If you are not certain of your Body Type, just leave it blank.
Thin: A Thin body type would also be called "lean". It is where there is not a large difference in the width of the shirt at the Chest versus the Waist and Hips.
Average: An Average body type would also be called "Regular" or "Typical". It is where there is an average difference in the width of the shirt at the Chest versus the Waist and Hips.
Athletic: An Athletic body type would also be called "Fit". It is where there is a noticeable difference in the width of the shirt at the Chest versus the Waist and Hips. The Chest is considerably larger than the Waist and Hips.
Extreme: An Extreme body type would also be called "Body Builder". It is where there is a very noticeable difference in the width of the shirt at the Chest versus the Waist and Hips. The Chest is considerably larger than the Waist and Hips, the Waist is usually quite small in comparison.
Husky: A Husky body type would also be called "Large" or "Heavy" or maybe even "Beer Belly". It is where the Waist is noticeably larger than the Chest. Sometimes the Waist is a half dozen inches bigger than the Chest and sometimes the Waist is over a foot larger than the Chest.

Other Information: If there is any additional information that you think we need to tailor your shirts, please feel free to enter that in the special instructions section of your account.

Incomplete Measurements: If you are not certain of a measurement, just put in the information that you have. We have a database based on thousands of shirts that we have tailored and we reference this against every order checking for any anomalies. Even with partial measurements and your correct Height & Weight we can usually decide the correct sizes. If we have any questions we will contact you before we tailor your shirts.
Traditional Collar The Traditional Collar is the collar that you will find on most "standard" or store bought shirts. Although you can wear a neck tie with a Windsor or Half Windsor Knot, this collar has a smaller spread and is ideal for a Four In Hand Knot. A Traditional Collar with a neck tie using a Four In Hand Knot is a basic style that is very common with American executives. If you are not wearing a neck tie, there will be a slight spread with the collar but it should still be comfortable to wear.
Tab Collar The Tab Collar is business collar and can only be worn with a neck tie. When determining the size of the tab to be used, we factor in the size of the Neck itself. We will normally cut smaller Necks with a 3/4" tab and larger Necks with a 1" tab. That gives the customer enough flexibility to choose the Tie Knot that is most appropriate. If you want to "squeeze" the tab sides together a Four In Hand Knot is probably most appropriate.
Band Collar The Band Collar is purely an informal collar, it is a great collar to wear for business casual. If you close the top button for a more formal look you can wear it with the appropriate blazer. It can also be worn un-buttoned and is great for a casual Linen Shirt or Silk Shirt. A Band Collar is not just for the clergy!
Button Down Collar The Button Down Collar is as traditional as it gets. The Button Down Collar can be worn with a Neck Tie or it can be worn without in a more casual style. Because of the way the collar adjusts, you can wear any Tie Knot that you want but this would be another collar where a Four In Hand Knot is probably most appropriate. In a twist to the traditional Button Down Collar, we also offer an Inside Button Down Collar where the buttons are on the inside of the collar (invisible) and attach to a tab on the inside. What you end up with is similar to a Tab Collar where the collar halves are held down. You can see this Collar below.
Dress Shirt Collar The Pin Collar - Straight Collar is another business collar where the neck tie gets squeezed between the collar halves. Instead of using a tab to achieve that, a pair of holes are are cut into the collar so that a Tie Pin can be thread between the halves and keep the spread small. The Tie Pin has to be purchased by you, we do not sell or provide them. This collar is not appropriate for wear without a neck tie. The type of knot that you use is up to you and the size of your Tie Pin, but a Four In Hand Knot is probably best.
Dress Shirt Collar Round The Pin Collar - Round is another business collar where the neck tie gets squeezed between the collar halves. It is the same as the straight collar except the bottom edges are rounded for a softer look.
Half Spread Collar The Quarter Spread Collar is one of the larger spread collars that we offer, this is sometimes considered a more "European" collar. The Quarter Spread Collar is halfway between the Traditional Collar (little spread) and the Half Spread. On a Quarter Spread Collar it is more appropriate to use a Windsor Knot or a Half Windsor Knot. The fullness of these knots is going to help cover some of the spread at the Neck. These collars can be worn without a neck tie but you might find that the collar points will hang up on your collar bones and make the back of the Neck of your collar not rest flush with your Neck, but instead will bow out away from the back of your Neck.
Full Spread Collar The Half Spread Collar has the largest spread that we offer, this is sometimes considered a more "European" collar. The Half Spread is cut so the spread looks somewhat vertical on your shirt. On a Half Spread Collar it is more appropriate to use a Windsor Knot or a Half Windsor Knot. The fullness of these knots is going to help cover some of the spread at the Neck. These collars can be worn without a neck tie but you might find that the collar points will hang up on your collar bones and make the back of the Neck of your collar not rest flush with your Neck, but instead will bow out away from the back of your Neck.
    Tuxedo Collar

The Wing Collar is a tuxedo collar and can only be worn with a Bow Tie.

Round Collar The Round Collar is the same collar as the Traditional Collar except the points are rounded for a softer look. This collar is best used with a Four In Hand Knot but could be used with other knots. Sometimes this is called the "Great Gatsby Collar" because this collar was popular in the 1920s and was shown in the movie. Today this collar is not very common, but can be worn for a unique style. This collar can be worn without a neck tie, we sometimes get requests for a Round Collar on short sleeve linen shirts.
Inside Button Down Collar The Inside Button Down Collar is the same as the standard Button Down Collar except the buttons are placed inside the collar. A tab is also added to the inside of the collar so that they can attach to the buttons. This way you can have the collar stay in the same position as the Traditional Collar but have the collar points stay close to the shoulder blades at all times. This collar is another option if you like the Tab Collar but do not like to "squeeze" the two halves of the collar together.
Mafia Collar The Small Spread Collar is another unique collar, it has very little spread with the collar halves coming almost straight down. The edges of the collar are rounded for a softer look. Their is a small space at the top of the collar for wearing a neck tie. This shirt should be worn with a neck tie. This collar is sometimes called a "Soprano Collar" or "Mafia Collar" or even a "Continental Collar" because it is worn on the European Continent.
1 Button Round Cuff The One Button Round Cuff is a traditional cuff, this is the cuff that you will usually find on most "standard" or store bought shirts. It has a very basic functional look and the barrel of the cuff is not too large.
1 Button Angled Cuff The One Button Cuff Angled is a slight variation on the One Button Cuff Round, the only difference being the angled cut at the base of the cuff, it is something that makes your shirts stand out a little bit without having a large cuff barrel.
2 Button Straight Cuff The Straight Two Button Cuff is a cuff with a larger barrel to accommodate the two vertical buttons. This cuff will give you a nice snug fit around the wrist.
2 Button Angled Cuff The Angled Two Button Cuff is a cuff with a larger barrel to accommodate the two vertical buttons. This cuff just adds the angled cut at the base of the cuff to give your shirt a little more style. This cuff will give you a nice snug fit around the wrist.
2 Button Round Cuff The Round Two Button Cuff is a cuff with a larger barrel to accommodate the two vertical buttons. This cuff will give you a nice snug fit around the wrist. This cuff has the increased barrel length but also keeps the basic conservative style of rounding the edge of the cuff.
Square French Cuff The Straight French Cuff is a very fashionable cuff and must be worn with cuff links in a business setting. Many people who chose this cuff also go for contrasting white collars and cuffs to make the cuffs really stand out. Today's fashion includes wearing french cuff dress shirts out at night, un tucked, with no cuff links.
Round French Cuff The Round French Cuff is a very fashionable cuff and must be worn with cuff links in a business setting. Many people who chose this cuff also go for contrasting white collars and cuffs to make the cuffs really stand out. Today's fashion includes wearing french cuff dress shirts out at night, un tucked, with no cuff links.
Changeable Cuff The Changeable Cuff is a very versatile cuff for those who sometimes like to wear cuff links and sometimes do not. It has a button to secure like a buttoned cuff, but also has an extra button hole sewn in to allow you to wear cuff links if you wish.
    Short Sleeves

Any of our shirts can be cut with Short Sleeves, that is one of the "cuff" choices. You can have casual shirts such as linens and silks made this way or you can also have short sleeves on more traditional dress shirts.

Above you will see the type of fabric used on that particular shirt, below is a more detailed description on all the fabrics we sell at execshirts including the shirt above.

    Oxford Dress Shirt

One of the most popular fabrics for a dress shirt is an Oxford cloth. Oxford cloth is a soft elevated woven pattern, it is a heavier cloth which gives it good durability. An Oxford dress shirt can be worn in both formal and casual situations. We offer Oxford shirts in both Cotton/Poly mix and 100% Cotton.

    Pinpoint Dress Shirt

A very popular fabric used in dress shirts is Pinpoint cloth. To be more accurate, it would really be called Pinpoint Oxford, but people call it Pinpoint for short. Pinpoint is lighter and smoother than a plain Oxford. Pinpoint is a fine cloth and a custom dress shirt made with Pinpoint is lighter than a traditional Oxford. We have Pinpoint fabric starting with a Cotton/Poly blend all the way up to Egyptian Cotton.

    Broadcloth Dress Shirt

Another fabric that is lightweight is regular Broadcloth. Broadcloth has a very smooth finish and does not have any patterns in the material. Broadcloth is the same quality and has the same weight as Pinpoint, but has a smoother finish. Broadcloth is very suitable cloth for a Custom Dress Shirt.

    Twill Dress Shirt

A regular Twill fabric is a very lightweight fabric that is very smooth to the touch, it is lighter weight than Oxford or Broadcloth. Another Twill fabric is a Woven Twill, A Woven Twill fabric is heavier than Pinpoint or Broadcloth, and usually has a slight pattern. Our Twill fabrics have a high cotton content and are the same quality as our Pinpoint cloth. Twill is suitable for casual dress shirts or formal dress shirts.

    Woven Fabric Dress Shirt

If you want dress shirts that have a luxurious feel to them, then a woven fabric maybe just for you. Woven fabric is thicker and heavier than other fabrics. The pattern of the weave is noticeable to the naked eye. We usually have woven Twills, Herringbones, and other assorted deluxe dress shirt fabrics.

    Herringbone Broadcloth Dress Shirt

If you want a custom dress shirt that is tightly woven with a fine ribbed effect, try using Herringbone Broadcloth. Shirts made with Herringbone Broadcloth fabric are considered fancier than those in the Oxford family of fabric. A Herringbone Broadcloth fabric is heavier than Pinpoint and Oxford. In the photo of the fabric, notice how tight the ribbed effect is. If the ribbed effect is very tight, the heavier the cloth will be.

    Cotton Percentage - (Deluxe)

At execshirts we can use fabric that is either 100% Cotton, 80/20 or 60/40 Cotton/Polyester blend. Some people say they wouldn't make a custom dress shirt with a cotton/poly blend, but we disagree, we have some great fabrics that are cotton/poly blend. Shirts made with a cotton/poly blend are called "wrinkle resistant". Other people like the "already worn" look that you get from a shirt made with 100% Cotton. We also have more expensive fabrics that are even superior to our normal fabrics, and those are labeled as "Deluxe". Of course in addition to that we offer an array of Egyptian Cotton Dress Shirts.

    Fabric Finish

When choosing fabrics for your custom dress shirts the finish is critical. The better the finish of the fabric, the better the quality of the dress shirt. Our tailor personally approves the finish on all the fabrics we use and you will notice this when your shirts arrive.

    Thread Count

Some companies try to impress you with thread count when selling dress shirts. The higher the thread count (e.g. 140's) the softer the fabric. But you can have fabric that has a high thread count and your dress shirt will still be poor quality because the finish is poor. At execshirts our tailor ensures that the finish is excellent, and we inform you the fabric family. This way you can choose shirts knowing how light or soft the fabric will be and you can feel safe knowing that our Tailor has approved the finish, so you get a quality dress shirt that meets your sense of style and comfort.

    Free Dress Shirts

Use our buy 4 get 1 free promotion on your first order and we will FedEx one "test shirt" to confirm your measurements. You will launder the shirt and try it on. We provide a link to the "proper fit" page on our site so that you can check the fit of your first shirt compared to what is recommended. What determines proper fit or comfortable fit is always up to you, the page is only a guideline to help assist you with that decision.

You will then send us an e-mail telling us the shirt fits fine or providing us with feedback on any necessary corrections we need to make before we ship the remaining shirts. If the test shirt does not fit properly, we will make a replacement shirt free. Even if your initial measurements are wrong you can have custom dress shirts RISK FREE!

How it works is that you will enter 5 dress shirts into your basket, the system will automatically give you the least expensive shirt free, and we will recognize that your account is for a new customer and automatically only send you one shirt to "test" your measurements.

You can use either your standard size or custom measurements on your order. You can also define your torso and what kind of cut you want on your shirts; such as "regular", "athletic", "thin", "husky". Those options are available whether you take your custom measurements or use a standard size. For more information on this click on the "Shirt Sizing Info" button in the header above.

On any order when you buy 5 shirts your 5th shirt is free. You can follow this same formula in any increments of 5 shirts that you buy. You do not have to do anything, the system will automatically give you the least expensive shirt on your order for free (per each 5 shirts).

You can use this promotion without taking any measurements. In the past customers have ordered their "test shirt" using their standard measurements (e.g. 16/36), and then corrected their measurements to get true custom dress shirts. We Sell To Big Men & Tall Men at the same low price!
